PHYSICAL PAIN
for acute and chronic issues
HOW CAN ACUPUNCTURE HELP?
As acupuncture addresses both the underlying causes of pain and the symptoms at the same time it can treat both chronic and acute types of pain. It’s important to resolve acute pain as quickly as possible because acute pain can lead to chronic pain if unresolved.
Both chronic and acute pain have been shown in numerous scientific studies to be effectively treated by acupuncture. In 2009 NICE (National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence) advised that acupuncture was a more effective treatment for chronic back pain than other conventional therapies.
"Around 8 million people in the UK are affected by chronic pain on a daily basis. Chronic pain is defined as any pain that lasts longer than 6 months, or which is present longer than the normal healing time of an injury. In some cases chronic pain may continue indefinitely."
